The plan backfires when they accidentally encounter real spirits. Nandhini becomes possessed by a spirit named Ganga, who then influences another spirit, Shiva, to possess Raghava. The second half reveals a tragic backstory: Shiva and Ganga were a couple—Ganga being physically challenged—who were brutally murdered by a ruthless villain named Marudhu after they refused to give up their property. The spirits use Raghava and Nandhini as vessels to seek their long-awaited justice.
The story follows Raghava (played by Lawrence), a man with an extreme fear of ghosts who works as a cinematographer for a TV channel. In an attempt to boost their channel's TRP ratings, Raghava’s colleague and love interest, Nandhini (Taapsee Pannu), plans a fake ghost-hunting show at a deserted beachside house in Mahabalipuram.
