The standard is a critical technical specification for metric parallel spline shaft connections, widely used in mechanical engineering for transmitting high torque and facilitating axial movement. While the original DIN 5463 standard was technically replaced by DIN ISO 14 in 1986, it remains a common reference in modern catalogs and engineering documentation. Technical Overview of DIN 5463

DIN 5463 specifies the dimensions and tolerances for straight-sided (parallel) splines. These splines feature flat, parallel flanks that mesh with a corresponding hub or bushing. The standard is primarily categorized into the "Medium Series," balancing load capacity with manufacturing ease. Key characteristics include: din 5463 pdf

: Typically features 6 or 8 teeth, depending on the nominal diameter. The standard is a critical technical specification for

: Most profiles utilize internal centering (centering on the minor diameter), ensuring precise alignment between the shaft and hub. These splines feature flat, parallel flanks that mesh

: Designed to handle high rotational loads by distributing force across multiple teeth.

: Allows for sliding motion along the shaft axis while maintaining power transmission.
